MEDx Licensing

A MEDx license is a per-seat license. The license entitles you to use the software only on the machine for which the license has been purchased. Any number of users may use the software from the same machine at different times. Up to 5 users may use the software on the same machine simultaneously. For more details, see the software license agreement. Below are instructions for acquiring a new or upgraded Permanent Licence for MEDx.

Obtaining a New License or License Upgrade With the MEDx 3.4.3 CD

If you have already received the MEDx CD, you must run the installation script on the CD to install MEDx. After you have installed MEDx from the CD please perform the following steps:

  • Run the sysid program from the bin directory of the MEDx distribution. For example, if MEDx was installed in /usr/medx then enter the following:

/usr/medx/bin/sysid -host

  • If you are requesting a license upgrade to from version 3.4.2 or earlier to version 3.4.3, then please:

    • Fill out this form using the information printed out by the sysid program and your MX License Number. You will receive confirmation that this information was mailed to Medical Numerics. An upgrade license key will be generated and emailed to you.
  • If you are requesting a new MEDx license then please perform the following two steps:

    • Fill out this form using the information printed out by the sysid program. You will receive confirmation that this information was mailed to Medical Numerics. A new license key will be generated and emailed to you.

    • Download a copy of the Medical Use Restrictions Letter. After reading this letter, please send us an original signed copy via fax or postmark. Our fax number is (703) 437-1725.

Obtaining a New License or License Upgrade Without the MEDx 3.4.3 CD

If you have purchased or wish to upgrade MEDx, but have not yet received the CD, you may download the MEDx program from our ftp site. Please follow the directions for installing MEDx on your system. After the installation is completed, perform the following steps:

  • Run the sysid program from the bin directory of the MEDx distribution. For example, if MEDx was installed in /usr/medx then enter the following:

/usr/medx/bin/sysid -host

  • If you are requesting a license upgrade from version 3.4.1 or earlier to version 3.4.2, then please:

    • Fill out this form using the information printed out by the sysid program and your MX License Number. You will receive confirmation that this information was mailed to Medical Numerics. An upgrade license key will be generated and emailed to you.

  • If you are requesting a new MEDx license, then please perform the following two steps:

    • Fill out this form using the information printed out by the sysid program. You will receive confirmation that this information was mailed to Medical Numerics. A new license key will be generated and emailed to you.
