MEDx Frequently Asked Questions - SPM

Q:When I open the data in MEDx the orientation appears to be ok but the orientation is incorrect when I display it in SPM99?

This is happening because SPM99 does not use any fields in the header of the
AVW image to orient the image and uses mat files. There are two ways you can set this orientation:

1. Using the Display option in SPM load in one of the images that has the
incorrect orientation. You will need to change the pitch, roll and yaw to
flip you image such that it is correctly oriented and then apply this to the
entire group of images.

2. The other option is to reslice the data in MEDx and resave it. You will
need to use the option called Flip Volume (Toolbox -> Transformation -> Flip
Volume). Do this to one of the images and save out the shadow transform.

After this apply the shadow transform to the group page comprising all the
images that need to be flipped. Save out the resliced group now. For information on saving the Resliced group refer to http://www.medicalnumerics.com/products/medx/faq/io/avwvolume.html
