Q:Can I use the spatial normalization/realignment of SPM99 and then
read the normalized and smoothed images into SPM96 (MEDx version) and
then run the statistics there?
Yes, you can do this. But ensure that when you load in the spatially
normalized data you select AVW for image format and turn on the option
called Assume SPM Talairach Calibration under Format options.
