MEDx Frequently Asked Questions - DICOM

Q: In one of the volumes I created when I opened some DICOM data, Image Properties of the volume indicates that the z size is 0. I am quite certain the z size is not 0 in this data set. Why is it shown as 0 in MEDx?

This scenario appears in MEDx when the first two slices of the volume are actually the same slice spatially. The z size is 0 because MEDx computes it to be the z distance between the first two slices.

The z size being 0, when DICOM data is opened, is a very good indication that the data was not opened by using the most suitable DICOM user option for this data set, causing some slices to be opened into the same volume even though they should not be opened into the same volume.

Please refer to Chapter 8 in the User's Guide to determine which user option is most suitable for this data set.
