MEDx Frequently Asked Questions - DICOM

Q: Can MEDx open DICOM images that are not conformant to the DICOM standard in some ways?

Yes. There are various kinds of DICOM non-conformance conditions that are external to MEDx by origin but MEDx is able to resist and operate under. For instance, MEDx can open some of the kinds of non-conformant images that have been created by various systems over the years.

Unfortunately, among the DICOM objects supported by MEDx, Nuclear Medicine Image is the only one for which documentation of MEDx's non-conformance tolerance behavior is available at this time; please see Section 8.4.1.3.2 in in the MEDx User's Guide.

For non-conformance issues regarding opening one of the other objects and regarding the other DICOM features in MEDx, please see the MEDx Dicom Conformance Statement.
